Lesson Structure
One on One
With safety being ISR’s top priority, ISR Lessons are always 1:1 to ensure your child can have my undivided attention while in the water. Each lesson is tailored to your child’s specific needs and skills for that particular lesson. The 1:1 attention your child receives also builds their trust in me and with that comes competence and confidence.
5 Days per Week - 10 Minutes per Day
Lessons are 5 days per week, Monday through Friday no more than 10 minutes per lesson. This unique schedule creates both the consistency and repetition needed to master their ISR skills. Though the lesson length may seem short, research shows that this 10-minute window of learning provides the safest, most effective lesson possible for infants and young children. I like to comare this to a toddler learning to walk. You would not expect them to learn by practicing for 30 minutes once or twice per week, but rather a little bit each day.
Aproximately 6 Weeks
All children learning these new skills for the first time are scheduled for 6 consecutive weeks f lessons. This is an average amount of time for a Rollback to Float student and a Swim Float Swim student. Each child is different and progresses at their own pace.
What Your Child Will Learn
ISR’s unique results are achieved through fully customized, safe and effective, one-on-one lessons with only your child and the Instructor in the water. What your child will learn, and the way he or she will learn it, is what makes ISR so different from traditional swimming lessons. Always putting safety first, ISR emphasizes competence, which leads to confidence, and provides the foundation for a lifetime of enjoyment in and around the water.
Babies 6-12 months (or those not yet walking) will be gently introduced to the water. Your child will learn how to hold his or her breath underwater, roll onto his or her back, rest and breathe while maintaining a floating position until help arrives.
Children 12 months and up (confident walkers) will learn proper breath control while underwater, a 3-4 second face down swim, how roll onto his or her back into a floating position to rest and breathe, then flip back over to swim. This sequence will continue until your child has reached safety.
Once fully skilled, all children will practice their skills fully clothed (diaper included if not yet potty trained) since aquatic accidents can occur anytime, anyplace.
*Keep in mind that not all 12-24 month year olds are developmentally ready to learn the swim-float-swim sequence. This group will typically learn how to do a short swim then rollback to float
